Check the printer driver, sometimes it might become damaged and need to be reinstalled. The correct driver for your printer can be found on the manufacturer's download page.
If your printer is connected to a modern driver and is not yet a printer, read the troubleshooting section in the printer user guide.

2. When can I still type? 'Low ink level'

You do not have to hurry to replace the ink cartridge when you get a low ink warning. Most modern printers have warnings for ink levels, alerting you when the ink is low. However, the accuracy of these warnings will vary by manufacturer and model. Some warnings about low ink levels for a long time before very low ink levels

How to Scan Documents in Windows 10

A great way to preserve confidential and written documents like W9, contracts and living wills is to store them digitally. This guide shows you how to scan a document in Windows 10 without installing third-party tools.
Generally, you can scan a document using the software provided by the manufacturers. Printers and scanners are usually shipped with an optical disc that contains the necessary drivers and tools. Manufacturers also make their drivers and tools available online if your PC doesn’t include an optical drive.
For example, this guide uses Epson’s Expression Premium XP-7100 all-in-one printer as an example. In addition to drivers, the software package installs eight separate tools for printing CD labels, scanning, updating software, and more.
Because manufacturers do not supply identical software packages on all printers and scanners, this guide uses two Windows-based “native” tools: Microsoft Scan and Windows Fax and Scan.
Of course, always use your manufacturer’s software by default to get a personalized experience for your specific scanner. However, if you don’t want third-party tools to be installed on your PC, the two Microsoft solutions should come in handy.
your scanner compatible with Windows 10?
Before we continue, we need to make a couple of points. First, the manufacturer of your scanner may provide drivers for Windows 10, but the device itself may not specifically support the platform.
For example, we tested the following tools with the Canon PIXMA MG3520 multifunction printer with a built-in scanner. The “recommended” drivers date back to July 2015, although Canon released a new suite six months later. It is still a three year old software.
With that said, the scanner part of this AIO printer won’t show up in native Windows tools, but it did work correctly, in fact, using a wireless connection, via Canon’s software.
If you have similar issues, you may have an older printer or scanner that is not fully compatible with Windows 10. The device may also require a direct USB-based connection if used outside of the manufacturer’s third-party tools. For AIO printers, you may need to adjust your network settings so that your Windows 10 PC recognizes the scanner component in addition to the general printer unit.
Microsoft Scan
This tool is a visual update of the old Microsoft fax and scan tool. It provides most of the same features, depending on your printer, but eliminates the fax and email components.
Go to the list of Windows Scan apps in the Microsoft Store (free) and click the blue “Get” button. Once it installs on your PC, click the “Start” button on the popup notification in Windows 10.
Start notification from Windows scanning app
You can also access the new application, simply labeled “Scan”, from the Start menu.
Scan app from Start menu
With the application open, your scanner should appear in the list on the left. As noted above, this guide uses Epson’s Expression Premium XP-7100 all-in-one printer as an example. You will also see an option for “File type” along with a “Show more” link. Click this link to access the full menu of the Scan application.
Scan Show more options
For starters, you can see a “Source” category. Since our sample printer has a flatbed scanner and an automatic document feeder, both options are available to scan a document. In this case, the default settings are set to “Automatic settings”.
Scan automatic configuration settings
This “automatic configuration” setting limits what you can do, blocking it from the “File type” and “Save file to” options. If you select the “Flatbed” option as your font, or it is the only font available, you will see two additional options listed: “Color Mode” and “Resolution (DPI)”.
With “Color Mode”, you can scan documents in full color, grayscale, or black and white. Meanwhile, the “Resolution (DPI)” setting allows you to change from 100 to 300 DPI.
Flatbed Scan Application Settings
If you select “Feeder” as the scan source, two additional options appear. As shown below, you can choose the paper size (A4, Legal or Letter) and enable / disable the option to scan both sides of the document.
Scan application feeder settings
With all three fonts, the “File Type” setting offers four options: JPEG, PNG, TIFF, and Bitmap. We provide a separate article that explains the benefits of each format. In summary, however, JPEG and TIFF formats often offer high-quality results, although TIFF files also support transparent backgrounds. PNG files are ideal for publishing online, and BMP files are raw and uncompressed images.
Finally, you will see the option “Save file to”. It is set to “Scans” by default and places your scanned documents in a “Scans” folder located inside your “Images” folder. The correct path is:
C: \ Users \ youraccount \ Pictures \ Scans
Click on the “Scans” link and the File Explorer will appear. Here you can create a new folder or select a current location and click the “Select folder” button.
File Explorer Selection Folder
When you’re ready to scan, insert your document into the feeder or lift the scanner lid. For the latter, place the document face down on the glass and close the cover.
With the “Flatbed” option set as your source, you can click “Preview” to test the scan and make adjustments if necessary before finishing with the “Scan” button. If you are using the “Feeder” font, the “Preview” option does not appear.
Windows Fax and Scan
This program first appeared in Windows Vista. Unlike the new Microsoft scanning application, this version provides additional settings, such as a built-in tool to send your scan by email, so you are not searching for the file through the mail application, browser or client third-party email address.
You can find the fax and scan program located in the “Windows Accessories” folder on the Start menu.
Windows Fax and Scan
Once it opens, click on the “New Scan” option on the toolbar.
Windows Fax and Scan New Scan
In the “New Scan” popup, make sure the program is set to your default scanner. Otherwise, click the “Change” button.
Then select a scan profile: “Photo”, “Documents” or “Last used setting”. As an option, click the “Add Profile” selection in the list to create a custom profile to use repeatedly.
Windows Fax and scan new scan profile
Select the source of your scanner. This option can simply read “Flatbed”. However, if you have an AIO printer that includes a feeder, you may see two additional options: “Feeder (scan one side)” and “Feeder (scan both sides)”.
Windows Fax and Scan New Scan Source
If your printer or scanner supports a feeder and you select that option, you will see a setting for the destination paper size. Click on settings and a long list of sizes will appear.
Windows Fax and Scan Paper Size
Then select your color format (Color, Grayscale, or Black and White) followed by the file type (BMP, JPG, PNG, or TIF) and resolution.
For resolution, the default setting is 300, but you can manually increase or decrease the number of dots that the printer enters per inch. In general, the higher the number, the better the resolution. However, if you are scanning a low-quality document, increasing the resolution will not help.
Finally, adjust the brightness and contrast accordingly.
Windows Fax and Color Scan Format
When you’re done, click the “Preview” button to see the results. If the previous scan looks great, click the “Scan” button. If not, adjust your settings and click the “Preview” button again for another test. Click the “Scan” button when you are satisfied with the settings.

Ricoh Printer Troubleshooting

Ricoh offers many single and multi-function machines to meet your business copying needs. If something prevents your Ricoh machine from making copies, you may be able to save your business money by troubleshooting the problem before contacting a technician for a service call. Understanding the potential problems behind your copier's troubles can help you solve them faster.

General troubleshooting

1. Review any error codes reported by the machine. Ricoh Copiers displays error codes for any common problems the machine may experience. For example, the code may indicate a paper jam or the need to replace a component of the machine. Look for the error code on your copier's service manual or Ricoh's subsidiary website (link in resource).

2. Power cycle copier by turning the machine off, waiting about one minute and then turning the machine on again. Similar to rebooting your computer, it clears the copier's memory and can solve the problem. If you cannot turn off the copier using the device's power switch, remove the power cord and wait at least one full minute before connecting your Ricoh copier to the power source.

If you are experiencing problems with overall print quality, clean the copier, as dirt and debris may be the cause. Clean the glass top with a soft microfiber cloth drenched with a window cleaner. Do not allow the liquid to pool on the copier, as it can leak inside and damage delicate electrical components. Use a can of compressed air to remove dust and toner particles from internal components, such as the fusing area and the drum unit, as these debris can reduce copy quality and overheat your coop.

4. Adjust the exposure or density settings on your Ricoh copier to improve print quality. When these settings are set to too high or too low, your copies may appear too high or too light. Typically, you can gain access to these settings using the control panel located on your machine.

5. Replace toner cartridge. Copies that appear too light after adjusting your copier settings may indicate that your toner is approaching the end of its lifetime. If you have recently replaced the toner, but still experience problems, remove the toner and verify that your copier has all the packaging removed before reinstalling it.

Following are some common Printer Issues and Their Troubleshooting Guide:

1. HP Printer Troubleshooting

It doesn't hurt to ask. There are some easy troubleshooting items you can do to make sure that you can print to an HP printer if it stops working or never works.

First, check the connection cables from Wall Power to HP Printer Power Connector. Then, check the cables from the printer to the Windows computer You may also be connected, is the USB cable firmly in place on both ends?

If there is a network cable running to an HP printer for HP network printing, make sure the Ethernet cable is warm and check the guide to see if there should be lights flashing to indicate the network connection.

Are there lights at the front of the HP printer? If the printer does not appear to be powered, try to unplug it and plug it in again. Then be sure to press the power button on the printer itself. If the light still does not come maybe try another power plug in your home just in case the outlet is off.

If nothing works and the printer does not work, you may need to transfer it to a service center or contact HP support directly for hardware help.

2. Epson Printer Troubleshooting

All of these printers suddenly stop printing, especially one color. It could be black, cyan, magenta, or yellow. The root cause of this problem is the use of Epson compatible ink. So do not use any fake ink. Always use original Epson ink.

The second most problem is alternately flashing light error that prevents you from printing anything. This is because the waste ink meter tells the printer that the waste ink absorbing pad is full of ink and cannot absorb more waste ink. So you have to replace that board with a new one. There are programs called Epson resetter online. Running this program will reset the waste to zero, and you will be able to print again without actually replacing the waste ink plate.

3. Brother Printer Troubleshooting

Solution 1 - Make sure the correct paper type and size are in the Brother printer user guide and make sure that you have not filled a lot of paper in the feeder to prevent paper jams and may even avoid stained or rough printing problems. Brother printer can scramble to print on certain papers like heavy card stock or glossy paper. However, you can prevent a messy headache from jammed with light, clean, 8-inch by a 10-inch small pile of paper. For more information, check the Brother printer manual and make sure which paper size and type to use.

Solution 2 - Upgrading or reinstalling the printer driver and software may solve printing problems such as unreadable text and strange characters. Upgrading to the driver, you can also fix problems if the computer doesn't recognize the printer or stops working accidentally. Go to the brother's official website and choose the correct printer model and the operating system running on your computer. Follow the directions on the screen to finish the installation process. For necessary updates in time in the future and ensure that you do not miss the new version, bookmark and verify Brother site on a regular basis.

Solution 3 - Try cleaning the printheads to prevent faded images and text. You can get possible options for caring for your Brother printer by selecting Print from any window and clicking on the "Properties" menu next to the name of Brother Printer. Choose the Maintenance tab and locate the Nozzle Check option. If you get blurred or broken lines on the printed pages, click the printhead cleaner icon to remove the dried ink, dust, and dirt. Try to check and clean the printhead regularly to prevent bulky build-up.

Solution 4 - Reload or replace ink or cartridge to solve "low ink level" warning messages, and fix problems such as missing text and images on prints. Each Brother printer requires a specific type of ink or toner cartridge, so go to the instructions in the printer manual to replace the cartridge correctly. You can also find these directions on the cover of the printer, in the ink cartridge or cartridge, or check the screen when the computer warns you to a low ink level. Note that the accidental use of the printer can also be the cause of improper printing or not at all due to the dried ink or ink cartridges that are placed in the Brother printer.

Solution 5 - After you've tried all of these solutions, it may be time to find other possibilities for printer problems. Sometimes, the incorrect setup of the printer can also prevent it from working. If you are unable to fix glitches with these solutions, you should contact Brother Printer support number to fix many high-tech printer problems. Before trying to replace your old printer with a new one, find technical support and solve problems with expert help always the best option for solving problems.

4. Canon Printer Troubleshooting

All these printers stop printing, especially one color. It may be black, blue, magenta or yellow. The main cause of this problem is the use of compatible Epson ink. Therefore, never use any fake ink. Always use the original Epson ink.

The second most problem is the flashing light, an error that prevents you from typing anything. Since the waste ink counter tells the printer that the waste ink absorber sheet is full of ink and cannot absorb the waste ink. Therefore you will have to replace the discs with new ones. There is a program called Epson through the internet. Running this program will set the waste in the counter to zero and will be able to print again without having to actually change the waste ink pad.

5. Zebra Printer Troubleshooting

To continue our coverage of the Zebra repair and Zebra printer service, I'd like to discuss some of the more common problems users face with Zebra printers. While this is not an exhaustive list of each known issue and how to explore it, this will provide potential causes and solutions to some of the most debilitating and common issues.

To start, I'd like to highlight one of the most "I Can't Believe That Problem" problems or ICBTWTPP ... I'm still working on the acronym ... and name. I'm talking about things that might cause your LCD screen on your zebra printer (you should have one) to not turn on. It can be anything from your printer being plugged in or turned off (sometimes the simplest solution is the right solution) to a blown 15 amp fuse or defective power supply. Of course, these are not the only possible reasons. If the LCD does not work, it may be a loose screen cable or a PCB.

Two of the most common complaints we get here at MIDCOM when it comes to Zebra printers or thermal printers, in general, is that customers see lines in their printing. Now, depending on whether these lines are vertical or horizontal determines what is the likely cause. If the lines are vertical, then the printhead may have burst, in which case it should be replaced. If the lines are horizontal, then the bar is likely to be traced, in which case the tape guide bar should be adjusted. Zebra 105SL Plus
Another problem we often hear about is printed labels that only fade to the ends of the labels. This is likely due to a poor adjustment of the printhead balance. All you need to do is adjust the spring tension printing hold down. Now, if the print is dull or very light across the entire label, it is likely that your print head is dirty and needs to be cleaned or you need to change the dark setting in the LCD menu.

The last two Zebra printer problems I want to talk about are starting up with printers that do not receive sent print jobs. This can be caused by a few things. It is possible that the connection cable is cut off or the wrong cable is used, or the communication parameters are not matched correctly, in which case it must be ensured that the computer and the printer connections are identical, or the printer may be identified simply being in a "pause" position, and in this Status, All you have to do is turn off the pause mode.

The last problem I want to talk about is what I like to call "your printer hates you so much that it actually sticks to its tongue at you." ... I'm bad with names. When the Zebra printer constantly prints stickers without being told that, the naming grade sensor may have been calibrated or defective, in which case the sensor must be modified or replaced. Two other possible reasons are that the sensor is dirty, in which case you need to clean it, or the labels are installed incorrectly, in which case they must be reinstalled.

Reinstalling the printer - reinstalling the printer from scratch, re-establishing the connection between it and the computer, replaces any major files that have been deleted or corrupt, and may be sufficient to solve the problem. If the printer appears in the Printers section of the control panel, remove it by right-clicking on the printer icon and choosing "Delete." Then, reinstall the printer following the instructions provided with the Lexmark printer. If you have misplaced a manual for your printer, you can download digital copies from the Lexmark website.

Driver Download - It is possible that new printer drivers have been released by Lexmark, which replaces drivers provided with the device itself. Installing the latest versions of printer drivers improves compatibility with other hardware and software, overwrites any deleted or corrupted files, and applies the latest bug fixes. Go to the "Support and Downloads" section of the Lexmark site (link to resources) to locate the correct Windows Vista drivers for your printer model. Once you've downloaded the correct files, run the setup file and follow the on-screen instructions.

More troubleshooting - If you are having printing problems only with one specific program, check for any updates or bug fixes for this app, or try to reinstall it. As a general rule, keep Windows Vista itself updated with the latest patches directly from Microsoft. If the Lexmark printer is connected over a wired or wireless network, this is another part of the series for troubleshooting - make sure the network is working as expected and the correct connections are there. In addition, Microsoft offers a troubleshooting tool automatically, which is available as a free download from its website, which may help in identifying and resolving the problem.
